Everything happens inside the TUI.

Install the binary, run notagent, then /login and /model. The rest of these pages cover what the slash commands do, how to point notagent at local or custom endpoints, and how to extend it with skills and hooks.

Getting started

Installation Install notagent with Homebrew on Apple Silicon, keep it updated, or build the binary from source.
Usage The slash commands that drive a session, from picking a model to leases, the bash filter, the code index and goal mode.
Side questions Ask the agent something on the side with /btw. The answer costs one reply, not a permanent place in every later request.

Models

Providers and local endpoints 45 built-in providers, ambient API keys, and first-class support for Ollama, LM Studio and any OpenAI-compatible server.
Custom providers Declare additional OpenAI-compatible providers and override known models in models.json, and refresh the catalog on demand.

Extending

Skills Four skills ship with the binary and become ordinary user skills on first start. Edit them, replace them, or delete one to restore it.
Hooks Shell commands attached to agent lifecycle events, with a strict declaration format, a JSON payload on stdin and one structured output shape.
